Vianey “Monica” Galdamez

Hi! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California, who speaks Spanish as well. I have been practicing for approximately eight years. I have experience in many different settings. I specialized in crisis intervention and CBT. I have worked in an urgent care setting for several years and have treated patients with severe active crises. I have experience working with groups as well as individual therapy. Today, I am here to help get back in control of your mental health. Reaching out is difficult and uncomfortable, but you have taken the first step toward a better you. Allow me to assist you and guide you in the process. I believe that therapy should be a team effort and I will be glad to be part of your team in your effort to better yourself.

The first meeting of course would be an assessment and develop a treatment plan. In the follow-up meetings, we will follow the treatment plan and assess the progress.

My goal is to get my clients back in control of their mental health. In each session, we will assess the progress toward the goals set at the beginning of the treatment.

I provide counseling to individuals and am serving clients virtually in California.

As a therapist with over 10 years of using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I focus on helping my clients identify and change negative thought patterns and behaviors. In our sessions, I guide them in recognizing automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) through techniques like thought records and journaling. Once we identify these thoughts, I encourage clients to question their validity and consider alternative perspectives, often using behavioral experiments to test the accuracy of their beliefs in real-life situations. I also introduce coping strategies, such as mindfulness and problem-solving techniques, to help them manage stress and anxiety effectively. Building a trusting relationship is essential, so I provide psychoeducation about the interconnectedness of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to enhance their understanding. I structure our sessions to include check-ins, reviewing homework assignments, and introducing new concepts. I assign practical exercises between sessions, like thought diaries or practicing coping strategies, to reinforce learning. The goal is to help clients integrate what they've learned into their daily lives and empower them to take charge of their emotional well-being.
